SRINAGAR, May 2: National Conference (NC) lashed out at the PDP-BJP Government for its complacency and casual approach in moving the Supreme Court over the NEET issue and said this was in line with this Government’s inaction over important issues that affect the State.
“Moving a petition in the Supreme Court at this juncture is inadequate as the State Government slept over this crucial issue till now. They should have taken this step immediately and with a sense of urgency”, NC Provincial President Nasir Aslam Wani said in a statement.
“The NEET extension to colleges within the State is not in the interests of our State. 50 percent reservation for girls in our medical colleges will now have to be shared at the national level depriving our girl students from within the State of the affirmative boost in education that was envisioned by our party. Besides this, there are other adverse implications that the Government seems to have been completely unaware of”, he added.
He said the PDP-BJP Government has shown similar callousness in other vital issues such as that of PILs against Article 35A by organizations affiliated to the RSS, the NFSA issue as well as the recent tragic loss of lives in Handwara where the Chief Minister took three days to wake up and take cognizance. “This is a clueless Government that never ceases to fail in dispensing its basic duties towards this State and its people”, Wani maintained.
“The State Government should show seriousness in these matters and not dither from protecting the interests of the State. Their callous approach is detrimental to the State and we are now seeing the consequences of a pliant State Government with every passing day”, he further added.
