JAMMU, Oct 25: While condemning the arrest of Molvi and his brother by Special Investigation Team (SIT) in connection with Gool firing incident, senior People’s Democratic Party (PDP) leader and Zonal president for Gool-Arnas Imtiaz Shah has alleged that Police was harassing the PDP activists and other locals including the victims of the incident.
Addressing a press conference here today, the PDP leader said that they had also demanded judicial probe into the Gool incident but the authorities had assured victims that SIT would probe on war footing and stern action would be taken against the culprits but unfortunately they arrested Imam Qari Shabeer Ahmed and his brother Abdul Lateef, sons of Molvi Ghulam Mustafa who were themselves victims in the incident and had no involvement in the incident. The police agency officials were harassing the PDP activists and other locals which is very unfortunate.
Terming the probe as an eye-wash, Mr Shah claimed that Molvi and his other family members were being indicted in falsely and the SIT is now turning the investigations like Shopian incident in which they had booked innocent people who had lodged complaint against miscreants. He said the Divisional Commissioner Jammu Shantmanu had recorded the statements of 39 eye-witnesses who apprised him that some BSF men had shown disrespect to a holy book. No action has been taken against the men responsible for this act. He demanded that SIT be withdrawn and a Judicial probe be conducted into the whole episode in which four persons were killed and 41 others injured in July this year.
