Goods worth lakhs gutted in fire at gun house

JAMMU, Aug 24: Goods worth lakhs of rupees were today destroyed in a fire that broke out in a gun house in Rajinder Bazaar area of the old city here, falling under the jurisdiction of Peer Mitha police station.
“A fire broke out this morning probably due to short circuit in Pal Gun House, Rajinder Bazaar here”, police sources said here today.
He said that the shop was located at the ground floor of three storied Government shopping complex, adding, that the fire engulfed goods in the shop which were worth Rs 2 lakh.
In the incident, SHO Peer Mitha Inspector Javed Malik got fainted due to the smoke coming out of the shop during fire and was rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) Jammu, from where he was discharged in the evening after treatment.
A case in this regard has been registered at police station Peer Mitha and investigation started.
Sources said it was due to the timely action of firemen under the supervision of Joint Director F&ES RT Dubey and DFO Sub Command City Tej Krishan Raina that the fire was doused before it starts engulfing the adjoining shops.
