JAMMU: Issues of power crisis in Kashmir Valley and compensation to the kin of five members of a family died in a road accident today rocked Jammu and Kashmir Assembly here.
As soon the House proceedings started, NC MLA Ali Mohammad Sagar raised the issue of power crisis in the snow hit Kashmir Valley.
Mr Sagar said that people were forced to live in dark due to erratic power supply.
The MLA said that the Government has failed to provide continuous power supply and in many of the areas, transformers were lying damaged and not repaired.
Other members from the Opposition including of Congress stood up from their seats and created pandemonium in the House on power crisis.
They also slammed the Government for unscheduled power cuts. The members later staged walkout from the House.
Meanwhile BJP MLA and state president Sat Sharma separately raised the issue of five members of a family who died yesterday in a road accident.
He demanded compensation for the next of kin asserting that it was due to the negligence of the company, who dug the pit-hole on the road and left it open, which led to mishap.
BJP MLA Sukhnandan Choudhary sought registration of FIR against the company and requested Speaker’s chair to issue directions that any company taking up repair work on roads, lying pipelines or cable by digging it, should be made responsible for its repair so that such tragic incidents were prevented.
