JAMMU, Aug 21: Golden’s Day Care & Recreation Centre (GDCRC) for Senior Citizens celebrated Senior Citizens Day with great zeal and enthusiasm, here today.
The event featured cultural programmes, health awareness sessions and interactive activities dedicated to the welfare, dignity and engagement of senior citizens.
Sham Lal Sharma, MLA Jammu North Constituency, was chief guest on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, Sharma urged the senior citizens to consider themselves as the cultural role models of society.
He said, “Their life experiences, values and traditions serve as a guiding light for younger generations. It is the duty of elders to instill strong social and cultural values in the youth so that they grow into responsible citizens who respect traditions and uphold moral conduct.”
Sharma further appealed to the elders to counsel and guide the younger generation to stay away from social evils such as drugs and other harmful habits, emphasizing that the blessings, guidance and wisdom of senior citizens can play a decisive role in building a stronger, value-based and progressive society.
He also assured the management and members of Golden’s Day Care Centre of all necessary help and support in their initiatives.
The MLA promised to extend assistance in the execution of the proposed developmental works, which include the installation of PP tiles on the Badminton Ground, construction of a footpath along with parking space in the backyard ground, installation of ESCL lights in the premises and laying of paver tiles in the front area of the Centre.
On this occasion, several elderly members were felicitated for their lifelong contributions to society.
The management of Golden’s Day Care Centre, while addressing the programme, stated that “This day is dedicated to honouring our elders, who are the guiding light of our society.”
The function concluded with a vote of thanks to all dignitaries, guests and participants for making the event a memorable success.
Raj Kumar Kohli, Tilak Raj Sharma and Ramesh Magotra also addressed the gathering and shared their thoughts.
