JAMMU, July 14: Unidentified thieves barged into a house in Sanjay Nagar area here and decamped with gold and silver ornaments worth around Rs 12 lakh and Rs 6 lakh in cash.
The incident happened on Sunday when the family members of Sarla Devi wife of late Vijay Kumar of House number 184, Sector 4, Sanjay Nagar, Jammu, had gone to Batote, a police official said.
According to him, the family got to know about the incident late night when one of their relatives found the lights of the house on with lockers inside the building broken.
Acting on the written complaint lodged by the owner of the house, Sarla Devi, police have registered a case under the relevant sections of the law at Police Station Gandhi Nagar and started further investigation into the matter by analysing the CCTV footage of the area and questioning the suspects.
No arrest was made in the case till the press time, said a police official.
