Gold jeweller held for duping people

SRINAGAR, Nov 7: Police today arrested a gold jeweller for duping people in Ganderbal district.
A police spokesperson said that police in Ganderbal received various complaints about cheating and duping by a gold jeweller Aijaz Ahmad Zargar, resident of Ibrahim Colony Theeru in Ganderbal district.
“Regarding this, cases vide FIR No. 43/2020 of PS Kheerbhawani,   FIR No. 226/2020 and FIR No. 227/2020 of PS Ganderbal have been registered,” police said.
Detailing the complaints, police said that on 21/10/2020, Police Station Kheer Bhawani was approached by one Noor Mohammad Zargar, resident of Ibrahim Colony Theeru Ganderbal stating that his son Aijaz Ahmad Zargar who is running a Gold Jewellery Shop under the name and style of “Chinar Jewellers” at Duderhama Ganderbal is missing since 20/10/2020.”
Accordingly, the police said, a missing report was registered and a search was launched to trace the missing person.
“During the course of the investigation, it came to fore that the missing person has cheated a good number of people from Ganderbal and other adjoining areas,” the police said.
It added that the person had duped scores of people and was absconding in order to evade legal action.
Police said that on 06/11/2020, he was traced out and arrested in the already registered case by Police Station Kheer Bhawani. Further investigation into the matter, police said, is going on.
