Godown, showroom gutted

JAMMU, May 15: A footwear godown and showroom were gutted in devastating fire at Canal Road, here today.
As per police sources, a fire broke out probably due to short circuit in footwear godown, which later spread to the showroom this evening at around 5:30 pm. The showroom and godown were owned by Ajay Gupta of Gandhi Nagar.
After getting information, police team rushed to the spot and informed the Department of Fire and Emergency Services.
The fire fighters along with fire tenders rushed to the spot and started the operation to douse the flames.
The whole operation was supervised by Deputy Director Department of Fire and Emergency Services RC Raina and Divisional Fire Officer Sub Command City TK Raina.
After hectic efforts of around five hours, the fire was brought under control. Around 11 fire tenders from different fire service stations were pressed into service to douse the inferno.
No injury or casualty has been reported in the incident, while the exact loss could not be ascertained yet.
Nowabad police has taken cognizance in this regards.
