GOC, former Minister, DPs of 1947, JU VC call on Governor

JAMMU, Nov 10: Maj. Gen. Sharad Kapoor, GOC, 26 Infantry Division, met Governor Satya Pal Malik at the Raj Bhavan here today and briefed him about the security situation in the area of his responsibility.
During their discussions, the Governor and the GOC reviewed issues relating to the pattern of infiltration from across the International Border and Line of Control and discussed various other issues relating to the overall security environment in the area.
A R Rather, former Finance Minister also met Governor and shared his views relating to prevailing political, developmental and security scenario in the State and apprised Governor about various issues of high public importance.
Governor discussed with Rather the crucial importance of establishing grass root level democratic institutions of Panchayats and Urban Local Bodies for ensuring public participation in planning development of their respective areas.
A delegation of Displaced Persons (DPs) of 1947 from PoJK, requested Governor for early settlement of the claims, of DPs whose families were registered outside the State but now settled in the State, under the scheme of Central Assistance for one time settlement of families of Displaced Persons of 1947 from PoJK etc under displacement Package for J&K 2015.
Governor assured due examination of their demand.
Prof. Manoj K. Dhar, Vice Chancellor Jammu University also met Governor and briefed him about various important academic and administrative matters relating to the functioning of the University and the initiatives taken in the past months, to maintain sustained focus on quality teaching and research activities.
Prof. Dhar informed Governor about establishment of the Technology Business Incubation Centre in the University to promote entrepreneurship among the youth and about the ongoing co-curricular activities in the University since October this year to celebrate Golden Jubilee year of the establishment of the University which will culminate with a big Golden Jubilee event in October 2019.
Governor emphasized strengthening capabilities of the University to make it a center of excellence in teaching, learning, research and extracurricular activities.
