JAMMU, Nov 10: The Crime Branch sleuths of State police today arrested a fraudster for forging signatures on documents and cheating a resident of Janipur in Jammu.
Official sources said that a written complaint was lodged by one Rakesh Kumar, son of Gian Chand of Janipur, Jammu with Crime Branch alleging that one Chotta Lal, son Faqir Chand, from 299, Rehari Colony Jammu, forged the signature of complainant fraudulently and transferred vehicle No. JK02AA-5449 (Matador) in the name of complainant with a view to shift the liability to pay the compensation after the said vehicle met with an accident.
But the fact remained that the complainant had neither purchased said vehicle from Chotta Lal, nor have any connection with vehicle in question. The matter was investigated and it was prima- facie established that the vehicle in question was initially purchased by one Ravi Kumar, who sold the same to Anil Kumar and later on the said vehicle was purchased by Chotta Lal on September 9, 2008 and the vehicle in question reportedly met with an accident on May 4, 2009 at Rehari Colony Jammu as a result of which one lady sustained serious injuries. As per the record made available by RTO office Jammu, the vehicle in question was found transferred and sold by Chotta Lal on February 25, 2009 to Rakesh Kumar, complainant fraudulently on the basis of fake/forged signatures of complainant by Chotta Lal with the criminal conspiracy hatched by him in league with his son Narinder Kumar and officers/ officials of RTO office Jammu and thus causing wrongful gain for himself and wrongful loss to the complainant. In this connection a formal case stands registered at Police Station, Crime Branch, Jammu.
The accused Narinder Kumar was evading his presence and he was arrested by Crime Branch sleuth yesterday. The said accused is in custody on police remand and is being interrogated. The investigation of the case is in progress.
