JAMMU, July 8: Prof Kamaljit Singh, Professor, Department of Chemistry and Dean Faculty of Sciences Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, today delivered an invited lecture on the topic, “Tryst with materials”, under the aegis of the Chemical Society, Department of Chemistry, University of Jammu.
Prof Singh emphasized how the Chemistry is important in designing and synthesis, antiplasmodial activity, SAR, mode of action and binding with DNA, Heme etc for hybrid antimalarials.
In his power-point presentation, he elaborated that it was high time to use non-linear optical polarization in optical systems rather than electro-optic systems. He also encouraged to the research scholars to have a vision to their research work in view to find the possibilities of synthesizing of molecules as non-linear optical materials since they have a potential applications in RFID tags, OLED lightening, solar cells, flexible displays, electro-optics/phtonics.
This lecture was specially organized to enhance the vision of research scholars in view to recognize the importance of their research work to find out applications in medicines and other industries.
Earlier, Prof S K. Pandey, Head of the Chemistry Department introduced Prof Kamaljit Singh to the audience. The lecture was attended by Prof Parmajit Kaur (GNDU), Prof K K . Kapoor, Prof R K Bamezai, Prof H N Sheikh, Prof Satya Paul, Dr D S Sambyal, Ashwani Kumar, Dr Amit Kumar Sharma and all the research scholars of the Department.
