JAMMU, Apr 29: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed today between Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) Jammu and Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) to establish a state-of- the-art Control and Command Centre in the premiere Health Institute of Jammu.
Under the guidance of Secretary, Health and Medical Education (H&ME), Dr Syed Abid Rasheed Shah, the MoU was signed by Principal, GMCH Jammu, Dr Ashutosh Gupta and Sumir Raina, Assistant Director, BSNL Corporate, J&K in the presence of Amarjeet Singh, Additional Secretary, H&ME.
The project includes an IT based centralized management and monitoring centre which will be based on 10G ready, secure and robust network infrastructure having wired and wireless internet connectivity for the administrators, doctors and paramedical staff of GMCH Jammu.
Dr Sandeep Dogra (Chairperson IT and Nodal Officer of the Command & Control Centre at GMCH Jammu) informed that the priority of the project is to power Hospital Management & Information System (HMIS) to enable paper-less working in the Hospital and generate online reports and Electronic Medical Records (EMR) under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM).
He said in addition to this, the system will also provide video conferencing facility to enable remote consultations between administrators and doctors enhancing communication and reducing the need for physical meetings especially in a pandemic like scenario. The network backbone will also be utilized to connect strategically positioned PTZ cameras for perimeter surveillance on large-format displays for real-time video feeds, alerts, and data visualization, facilitating situational awareness for hospital administration.
“The Control Centre will also upgrade the existing EPABX system to a new digital PBX system for VoIP based audio and video communication for routine working as well as emergencies. The system will cover all the OPDs, wards, OTs, laboratories and emergency block. The whole system will be setup in the existing Control Room having the code blue system and will be operational in three months’ time. The centre will be manned 24×7 by well experienced technical team provided by the BSNL,” Dr Dogra added.
