JAMMU, Apr 18: In connection with observance of World Haemophilia Day a function and a camp was organized in Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu for Haemophilia patients by the staff of comprehensive Haemophilia Care Centre, Pathology Department, Government Medical College Jammu with active cooperation of Akash Kohli, Haemophilia patients and their parents.
Dr K K Kaul, Chief Nodal Officer Comprehensive Haemophilia Care Centre and Prof & Head of the Pathology Department, GMC ,Jammu while addressing the function informed that the slogan for the year 2015 by World Federation of Haemophilia is ‘Close the Gap’ which reflects the difference in treatment available to people living in different parts of the world.
He said by working together, it is hoped that we can close the gap of Haemophilia care around the world. The main aim of the celebrations is to raise the awareness about the Haemophilia and other related bleeding disorders, he added.
Dr Kual said Haemophilia is a crippling disease and is often fatal, if not managed properly.
During the camp the patients went through dental check up, orthopedic consultation for muscle, joint care and physiotherapy.
Besides, lecturers on important aspects of the disease, quiz competition, panel discussion and small cultural programme was held. Many patients of Haemophilia and other related bleeding disorders were benefited by attending the camp as their individual health related issues were addressed.
Principal Government Medical College, Jammu Dr Ghanshyam Dev Gupta was the chief guest on this occasion. Dr Anil Mahajan, Prof & Head Medicine, Medicine Superintendent, Dr Rabinder Rattan Pal presided over the function. Principal Government Medical College, Jammu in his address informed the Haemophilia care is going on as per the guidelines in the comprehensive Haemophilia Care Centre under the supervision and staff of Chief Nodal Officer, Dr K K Kaul.
Regarding the availability of factors, he said matter is under consideration of the administrative Department and the funds will be released shortly.
The audience comprised of various faculty heads, faculty members, residents and paramedical staff.
