GMC Jammu starts dialysis service for COVID patients

JAMMU, Jan 25: Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu has started dialysis services for COVID -19 patients in the HDU Ward of Emergency Complex of GMC Hospital, Jammu.
Principal GMC, Dr Shashi Sudhan Sharma in a handout issued here, today said after the installation of portable RO plant of 250 ltrs /Hr. capacity worth Rs 7.80 lacs in the HDU Ward, one dialysis machine has been shifted from SSH to start dialysis of COVID -19 positive patients within GMC Hospital only.
Meanwhile, after the start of dialysis service, four COVID-19 patients with kidney disease have undergone dialysis in the HDU Ward where they are undergoing treatment for COVID 19, making it very convenient for the patients and the staff. Previously , the COVID -19 patients had to be shifted to Gandhi Nagar Hospital for dialysis and after dialysis they were transferred back to GMC Hospital which was cumbersome and caused lot of discomfort to them.
The handout said after COVID -19 pandemic is over, the dialysis machine will be used for patients in emergency requiring dialysis.
It said in future similar dialysis machines will be installed and made functional at Pediatrics Department, Obst & Gyne Department and MCH Hospital, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu for convenience and welfare of the patients suffering from kidney diseases and requiring dialysis.
