GMC approves 189 research proposals in IEC meeting

JAMMU, Oct 22: The `Institutional Ethics Meeting’ held at the Government Medical College (GMC), Jammu, concluded today.
In the meeting, a total 189 research proposals were deliberated, out of which, 121 were thesis proposals and 68 research proposals.
Provisional approvals subject to all necessary modifications and recommendations was granted.
Increasing trend towards clinical research is welcome sign for the institution, the participants observed.
Dr Sunanda Raina, Principal/ Dean Government Medical College addressed the academic meeting and said that she has already taken up the matter with Jammu University regarding early allotment of research proposal in first six months of joining the institution.
Dr Kuldeep Sharma, Chairman IEC said that besides granting approval to studies following all principles of bioethics, this Forum should be used as a teaching and learning forum in research.
Dr Vijay Khajuria, Member Secretary IEC presented the status and work done report of IEC.
Dr Vishal Tandon said that IEC GMC Jammu has been granted registration by DCGI, Government of India.
Besides the Chairman, Member Secretary and members of IEC, Prof Ganshyam Dev, HoD Radiology, Dr Annil Mahajan, HoD Medicine, Dr Nasib Digra, HoD Surgery, HoDs of various other departments, faculty members, Registrars, Demonstrators and Resident doctors were present in the meeting.
