GMC Admn reviews security arrangements for docs, staff

JAMMU, Aug 24: The Administration of Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu today conducted a meeting chaired by Dr Ashutosh Gupta (Principal & Dean, GMC & Associated Hospital) to review the security arrangements for the staff including doctors, nurses and paramedics.
The meeting was attended by K Handa, SP City (North), Vikram Singh (SDPO, Bakshi Nagar), Rakesh Sharma (SHO, Bakshi Nagar), various HoDs, Administrator AHJ, Medical Superintendent GMCH, Assistant Medical Superintendent GMCH and representatives from the Resident Doctors Association.
In view of the repeated violent incidences happening in the Emergencies of the GMC and Associated Hospitals Jammu by attendants of the patients, the meeting deliberated in detail about the measures to be taken to reduce/stop such incidences.
It was decided in the meeting that in case of any law and order issues in the Emergency of GMCH & Associated Hospitals Jammu, the doctors/staff concerned on duty shall inform Incharge Police Posts, GMCH & AHJ through CMO on duty during night hours and Medical Superintendent of the respective hospital/Principal GMC Jammu during working hours and further telephonically can be informed to the SHO/SDPO/SP City Jammu.
The Police authorities assured that in order to tackle the law and order problems in the emergencies of GMC & AHJ, the prevailing scenario of deployment of Police Personnel shall be reviewed. The police authorities assured to strengthen for the safety and security of the medicos with prompt action.
As per the expressing demand of female doctors during the meeting, the Police authorities assured that the strength of female staff in SMGS Hospital, Jammu shall be enhanced in the interest of patient care.
The Police authorities suggested that the private security of the Hospitals and police personnel shall have full coordination while performing their duties in the patient care areas especially in the Emergencies of GMC & AHJ.
