Court frames charges against CMO BSF, 23 others in SI recruitment scam

JAMMU, Aug 24: Chief Judicial Magistrate Jammu Anjum Ara has framed charges against 24 persons including CMO BSF namely Karnail Singh in the SI recruitment scam.
The other accused against whom charges have been framed are Ashok Kumar, Ashwani Kumar, Jaisunya Sharma, Kewal Krishan, Raman Sharma, Amit Kumar Sharma, Rakesh Kumar, Sunil Sharma, Suresh Kumar Sharma, Jagdish Lal, Kashmir Singh, Atul Kumar, Tarsem Lal, Yatin Yadav alias Nittu alias Guruji alias Ramu Sir, Vikas Sharma, Anil Kumar, Ashok alias Ashok Pandit alias Gaurav Pandit, Pawan Kumar, Asheesh Yadav alias Monu, Bajinder Singh, Surinder Kumar, Surender Singh alias Commando and Pradeep Kumar Katiyar.
As per the prosecution case, vide letter No. GAD-VIG0COMP/285/2022-04-GAD dated 08.07.2022, Dr Mohammad Usman Khan, Deputy Secretary, conveyed the decision of Govt of J&K for investigation by CBI into allegations of irregularities in written examination of Sub-Inspectors posts in the J&K Police conducted by J&K Services Selection Board (JKSSB) on the basis of report of Inquiry Committee constituted by the Govt of J&K.
Perusal of the report of Inquiry Committee constituted by the Govt of J&K prima facie revealed criminal conspiracy amongst officials of JKSSB; M/s Merit Trac Bengaluru; beneficiary candidates and other accused persons causing gross irregularities in conduct of written examination of Sub-Inspectors posts in the J&K Police conducted by JKSSB. Accordingly, a regular case RC0042022A0008 was registered against accused persons under Section 120-B, 420 IPC.
After hearing Vijay Dogra, Public Prosecutor for the CBI whereas battery of lawyers for the accused persons, CJM observed, “prima facie it appears that accused have substantively committed the offences under Sections 420, 201, 411 IPC as such are required to be charged for offences. Therefore, prima facie commission of offences under Sections 120-B read with 420,408, 201, 411 of IPC are clearly found established against the accused persons. They are accordingly charged for commission of offences”.
