Globathon Walk held to eradicate cancer among women

JAMMU, Sept 29: Globathon Walk -an event to eradicate cancer among women was held in Jammu here today.
Three groups of volunteers, derived from different fields of activity such as professionals, students, social activists and other organization started walk from three points including University of Jammu, Women College Parade and Women College Gandhi Nagar.
Dr Jasbir Singh, Ex Director Health and social worker Ram Pal Sharma in presence of Kasturi Lal Gupta, Ex Principal Medical College, flagged off the walk at Jammu University.
UP Hr Sec School, Channi Himmat along with other organizations started their walk, which was led by Rajni Sharma, Principal and Sarika Sharma, Secretary, U P Hr Sec. School Channi Himmat. Placards and posters were held by the students displaying awareness message on cancer among women.
School students made posters, banners and cards with their hard work and creativity to produce awareness. The walk culminated at Stadium Ground where students of other colleges, nursing schools and UP Hr Sec. School Channi Himmat gathered.
Shashi Gupta Principal of Government Medical College Jammu spoke on the occasion and said that the goal of walk was defined to raise awareness about cancer and its prevention.
Dr Kasturi Lal, who took initiative to organize the event, welcomed the volunteers in the stadium and stressed the need for intensive cancer awareness campaign.
Other prominent, present there, included Y B Sharma, president Chamber of Commerce; M K Bhardwaj, president Bar Association; S K Jain and Principals of participating schools.
Santosh Magotra presented vote of thanks.
