This refers to PM Narendra Modi’s speech at a global Sufi meet in New Delhi. One must also welcome Modi’s strong words against terrorism and the care he took to separate religion from terrorism. It is auspicious to see that our PM is lauding Islam and quoting from the Koran and paying tributes to Sufism for peace. I fully endorse the words of Modi that “those who spread terror in the name of religion are anti-religious”, would have to be directly applied to today’s Indian context with better viewpoint. The phrase Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam that Mr Modi use in his every speech isa benchmark for the prisoners of narrow-minded dogmas who harp too much on patriotism, nationalism and sedition. The culture behind Sufism must swell across the nation for communal peace and harmony. Sufism by itself is a combination and a blend of an inner aspect of mystical Islamic beliefs with all faiths. Our political and religious leaders have a key rome to play in uniting humanity by discarding the practice of obscurantism.
