‘Gladiolus variety Bhagawaan Gopinathji’ released

JAMMU, July 27: “Gladiolus variety Bhagawaan Gopinathji” was released by the Bhagawaan Gopinathji Trust today at Bhagawaanji’s Ashram, Udiawala Bohri in presence of H K Razdan, Director Agriculture, Jammu. He was joined by Ravinder Kachroo, B B Sidha and others on the occasion.
The variety bred by Dr Manoj Nazir is a cross between American Beauty and Red Majesty which was put under trial for five years at OOTY (TN) , Tirupati (AP) , Dharmsala (HP), Udhampur, (J&K). It was duly approved by ICAR, Dr Y.S.R, Horticulture, University Tirupati for commercial cultivation in India with this hope that Bhagawaan Gopinathji will bring colourful economy for Indian farming community and will prove a boon for unemployed youth.
The approved variety will be planned in Bhagawaan Gopinathji Vatika at Jammu Ashram in the month of September this year.
