JAMMU, July 7: Senior Congress leader and former Deputy Chief Minister,Tara Chand today said that statehood and right to job and land are the identity and protection of the Dogra identity and culture and the people of Jammu and Kashmir shall fight till last to secure their rights and status.
Addressing a public meeting at Khour in Chhamb Constituency Tara Chand urged the PM Narendra Modi to come true on his promise on the restoration of Statehood. He said the feeling of detachment among the people is growing, the Government should understand the anger and restore the snatched honour to the people and empower the people of J&K with the restoration of their rights.
Former DyCM said, the Delimitation exercise should be conducted in accordance with the Constitution and norms and procedure prescribed under the law taking into account various parameters of population, area, terrain, topography and other such considerations in order to ensure complete justice with each and every area. He said that the process should be completed in shortest possible time to pave way for early Assembly elections.
Congress leader said that the recent hike of LPG cylinders has come as a huge shock for the people, who are already under financial distress. This was one more nail in the cofin of the common man who is helplessly watching the spiralling price of essential commodities.
He said the rise in prices is coming at a time when employment and livelihood have collapsed. Many people who lost their jobs during the pandemic have not been able to find new employment. The government’s policy of increasing taxes on fuels was a big factor behind higher inflation. The causal workers, daily wagers, contractual and need based workers held protests seeking fulfillment of promises by BJP Government to them while in opposition and after assuming power but they are neglected by the government. It is very unfortunate situation and even the regular employees are not getting their salaries and dues etc on regular basis forcing them to come on streets.
Senior members Suram Singh, ML Sharma, Jagatar Singh, Jagdish Raj, Bodh Raj, Ved Prakash, Suraj Singh, Capt Mohan Lal and others were also present.
