The excellent performance by girl students in the recently declared result of class XII underlines once again the fact that girls are in no way inferior to boys.
Given opportunity to excel, girls can prove their mettle in any field. There is hardly any field left now where they are not found. By virture of their intelligence, courage, perseverance and determination they are making their presence felt. However, one must admit here that it will take much more time for a girl child to live a life of her own, particularly those living in rural areas where gender discrimination persists to a large extent, and where they do not feel free to express their views with regard to their education, marriage and such other issues.
These is need to launch many more initiatives and schemes like the one launched by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi- Beti Padhas Beti Bacho. The girl child needs to be provided security and scholarship to excel in every field of life. Their excellence will help the country grow further, and that is what the nation wants.
