*Over 35K students qualify, 20K secure distinction

JAMMU, Apr 22: Girls once again outperformed boys as Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education today declared the results of Annual/Regular Class 12 (Summer Zone) Examination, with the overall pass percentage standing at an impressive 89.79%.
According to official data, 35,299 out of 39,309 enrolled students cleared the examination, a notable improvement than the previous year pass percentage of 75.95. Girls secured a pass percentage of 90.75%, ahead of boys who recorded 88.91%, underscoring their consistent academic lead in board results across the region.
The results also highlight a strong overall performance, with 20,011 students securing distinction (75% and above) and 13,260 passing in first division (60% and above). Only 2,021 candidates fell in second division, while a negligible seven students were placed in third division. Meanwhile, 3,891 candidates were declared reappear and 119 failed, indicating a relatively low failure rate.
Girls maintained a strong presence among toppers across streams. In the Science stream, one student secured the first position, while five candidates shared the second position with identical scores, and four students secured the third position. Ayushi Sharma of Udhampur topped the stream with 497 marks (99.4%), followed by a cluster of high scorers at 496 marks (99.2%).
In the Commerce stream, one student clinched the first position, one secured the second position, while four students shared the third position. Manik Dogra of Jammu emerged as the topper with 497 marks (99.4%), reflecting intense competition among top ranks.
In the Arts stream, the first position was jointly held by two students, while one student secured the second position and four candidates shared the third position. Prince Prabhat Singh and Rudraansh Rajput topped with 495 marks (99%), with several others closely following.
Subject-wise, the performance remained consistently high. Core subjects such as Physics (97%), Chemistry (96%), Biology (98%), Mathematics (96%), and Computer Science (99%) recorded excellent pass percentages. General English, the largest subject with over 39,000 candidates, achieved a pass rate of 97%. Notably, several vocational subjects including Retail, Healthcare, IT & ITES, Beauty and Wellness, and Automotive reported a 100% pass percentage, highlighting growing success in skill-based education.
However, some subjects like Economics (88%) and History (92%) recorded comparatively lower pass percentages, though still maintaining satisfactory performance levels.
Education Minister Sakeena Itoo congratulated students on their strong performance in the Class 12 examination, stating that the results reflect a firm commitment to quality education and competitive standards. She noted that the improvement compared to previous years highlights the impact of ongoing reforms, better teaching methods, and enhanced student support systems.
She also praised the teaching community for their dedication in ensuring continuity of learning, adding that the results represent the collective efforts of students, educators, and families, and reaffirm the Government’s commitment to further improving education standards.
