Girl injured in shootout

SRINAGAR, Nov 22: A girl was injured in a shootout in Khudwani area of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district this morning.
Militants fired at an Army camp in Khudwani in the wee hours. The Army retaliated, leading to a brief exchange of fire. A girl, identified as Muskaan Jan of Wanigund, suffered a bullet injury in the firing incident. She was rushed to a hospital in Qoimoh for treatment.
The area was cordoned off by the security forces to nab the militants. However, they had fled after the attack.
Militants this evening fired UBGL followed by firing on the residence of ASP / SOG Camp at Gagran in district Shopian. Police retaliated. However, no loss of life or injury was reported.
And in the meantime, normal life in Kashmir valley was disrupted due to shutdown called by separatists against the killing of a Tehreek-e-Hurriyat leader Mir Hafizullah.
Shops and business establishments remained closed while public transport was mainly off the roads in Srinagar and other district headquarters of the Valley.
Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik had called for a shutdown today and protests after congregational prayers tomorrow against the killing.
Mir was shot dead by unknown gunmen at his home in Achabal area of southern Anantnag district on Tuesday.
