Ghagwal police rescues 9 bovines, seizes truck

SAMBA, June 2: Continuing its endeavour to thwart the evil designs of the bovine smugglers, district police Samba today foiled a bovine smuggling bid and rescued nine bovines.
A police party of PS Ghagwal headed by SI Bansi Lal, SHO Ghagwal under the close supervision of Deepak Digra, Dy.SP Hqrs Samba, during routine naka checking at NHW Tapyal, signaled a truck to stop bearing registration No. JK02V/4337 which was coming from Kathua side.
The driver on seeing the police party accelerated the vehicle and tried to escape from the spot. But after being chased by the Police, the driver abandoned the vehicle at NHW Sandbari and managed to escape from the spot. During checking of the vehicle, nine bovines were found laden inside it which, were being transported illegally. The vehicle was seized on spot and the bovines were rescued. In this regard a case FIR No. 88/2018 U/S 188 RPC, 2/3 PCA Act, 119/177/184 MV Act, has been registered at P/S Ghagwal and investigation started to nab the driver.
The drive against the bovine smuggling in the district ahs been launched under the directives of SSP Samba, Anil Magotra.
