Ghagwal police rescues 22 bovines, seizes 2 vehicles

SAMBA, Feb 6: District police Samba under the overall supervision of Dr. Koshal Sharma, SSP Samba foiled two bovine smuggling attempts in the jurisdiction of P/S Ghagwal by rescuing 22 bovines.
Acting on reliable information received at P/S Ghagwal that bovine animals are being smuggled towards Srinagar, a Police Party of P/S Ghagwal headed by Inspector, Rajeev Kumar, SHO P/S Ghagwal under the supervision of Deepak Digra, Dy.SP Hqrs Samba during vehicle checking naka at NHW Tapyal, signalled a truck bearing Registration No. JK02AV-9681 to stop that was coming from Kathua side.
During checking of the vehicle, 17 cattle were found laden in it. All the cattle were rescued and shifted to safer place, police said. The vehicle which was being illegally transporting the bovines was also seized on the spot. In this regard, a case FIR No. 10/2019 U/S 188/RPC, 2/3 PCA Act has been registered at P/S Ghagwal and investigation started, police informed.
Similarly, later in the night, five bovines, which were also being smuggled towards Kashmir in a Mahindra vehicle bearing Registration No. JK08G-7693 coming from Kathua side, were rescued and the vehicle involved was also seized. A case FIR No. 11/2019 U/S 188/RPC, 2/3 PCA Act has been registered at P/S Ghagwal and investigation started, police disclosed.
