SAMBA, Mar 29: Continuing its drive against the bovine smuggling in the area, the district police Samba has rescued 15 bovine animals and arrested two bovine smugglers today, while 17 bovine animals were rescued by the police yesterday.
Police said that acting on reliable information received at P/S Ghagwal that bovine animals are being smuggled towards Srinagar, a team of Police Station, Ghagwal headed by Inspector, Rajeev Kumar, SHO P/S Ghagwal under the supervision of Deepak Digra, DySP Headquarters, Samba during vehicle checking naka at NHW Tapyal, intercepted a truck bearing Registration Number UP78BT-0378 which was coming from Kathua side.
During Checking of the vehicle, police rescued 17 bovines which were being transported illegally without any permission. The accused driver namely Inam S/o Sageer Ahmed R/o Sirsali Kalan, Badgaon Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh and his associate Mohd Hussain S/o Lal Hussain, R/o Manohar Gopala, Samba have been arrested and the vehicle used for transporting the bovines was also seized on the spot. In this regard, a case FIR No. 31/2019 U/S 188 RPC, 2/3 PCA Act has been registered at P/S Ghagwal and investigation started.
It is pertinent to mention here that Samba police by its stringent efforts on the directives of SSP Samba, Dr Koshal Sharma has foiled three bovine animals smuggling bid across the district by rescuing 47 bovines cattle and arresting three bovine smugglers in past four days.
