Ghagwal police arrests bovine smuggler, rescues 15 animals

JAMMU, May 22: In its continuous drive against the bovine smuggling launched by district police Samba, a police party of PS Ghagwal foiled a bovine smuggling bid and rescued 15 bovine animals.
As per reports a police party of PS Ghagwal headed by Inspector, Amit Andotra, SHO Ghagwal under the supervision of Deepak Digra, Dy.SP Headquarters Samba, during routine naka checking at NHW Tapyal, signalled a truck to stop. The truck, bearing Registration No. JK02AC-8569, was coming from Kathua side. It did not stop and on seeing the police party, the driver accelerated the speed of the vehicle and tried to escape from the spot.
But after a successful chase by the police, the truck was intercepted near NHW Ghagwal. During checking of the vehicle, 15 bovines were found laden inside the vehicles which were being transported illegally without any permission. The accused driver namely Ashiq Ali S/o Hasham Ali R/o Gibthathi tehsil and district Udhampur was arrested on spot and all the bovine animals were rescued. In this regard a case FIR No. 80/2018 U/S 188/RPC, 2/3 PCA Act, 177/184 MV Act has been registered at P/S Ghagwal and investigation started.
The drive was conducted on the directives of SSP, Samba, Anil Magotra.
