SAMBA, Feb 5: Ghagwal police has seized 40 kgs of poppy straw during checking at a Naka laid on Jammu- Pathankot National Highway at Tapyal today.
As per reports a police party of Police Station Ghagwal intercepted an apple laden truck bearing Registration No HP73-1491 at Naka NHW , Tapyal which was moving towards Punjab.
Police said during the checking of the vehicle , 40 kgs of poppy straw packed in four cartons each weighing 10 kgs was recovered which was hidden beneath the apple boxes.
The accused persons have been identified as Mohammed Sadiq , S/o Noor Jamal , truck driver and his associate Mohammad Javed, S/o Fateh Mohammad both residents of Malair Kotla , Sangur, Punjab. Bothe the accused were arrested and contraband along with vehicle was seized by police.
In this regard a case FIR No 12/2020 U/S 8/15/29 NDPS Act was registered at P S Ghagwal and further investigation started
