4 drug peddlers arrested with poppy straw, heroin

JAMMU, Feb 5: Sidhra, Pul Doda and Assar Police arrested four drug peddlers and recovered poppy straw and heroin from their possession.
As per police sources, a team from Sidhra Police Post led by SI Zaheer Mushtaq under the supervision of SDPO Nagrota Mohan Lal Sharma laid a naka near Bajalta Morh and intercepted a pedestrian.
During frisking, police team recovered 30 kilograms of poppy straw from the possession of the pedestrian and arrested him.
The arrested person has been identified as Bilal Ahmed Shah, son of Ghulam Ahmed Shah of Mashwara District Shopian.
A case under FIR Number 47/20 under Section 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Nagrota and investigation started.
However, a team from Pul Doda Police Post laid a naka and intercepted two pedestrians who were moving under suspicious circumstances.
During checking, police team recovered 730 grams heroin from the possession of the pedestrians and arrested them.
The arrested persons were identified as Shakir Hussain and Firdous Ahmed, both residents of Thathri.
A case under relevant Sections has been registered at Doda Police Station and investigation started.
Meanwhile, a team from Assar Police Station also apprehended a drug peddler along with 50 grams of heroin.
The accused has been identified as Mehtab Alam, a resident of Tehsil Banihal, District Ramban.
A case in this regard has been registered at Thathri Police Station and investigation initiated.
