JAMMU, Oct 29: Displaying arrogance and undemocratic act, Minister of State for Home Sajjad Ahmad Kitchloo today stopped circulation of the copies of Excelsior newspaper at various places by forcibly purchasing all copies in bulk from the vendors to prevent the people from reading a news pertaining to transfer of Director Industries Dr Abdul Rashid, which was stayed by the High Court yesterday.
In the morning, the henchmen of Kitchloo, National Conference candidate for Kishtwar Assembly seat, moved out in different places including Udhampur, Katra, Batote and erstwhile Doda district and forcefully purchased all copies of the Excelsior from the vendors to stop the newspaper from reaching out to the people.
The workers of Sajjad Kitchloo lifted all copies of the Excelsior from Dipankar News Agency at Udhampur, Ganesh News Agency, Katra and Tariq News Agency, Batote. As a result, the Excelsior couldn’t reach to the people.
In some areas of Kishtwar and Doda districts also, Sajjad’s workers purchased all copies of the Excelsior from the stalls as soon as it reached there.
Due to undemocratic and arrogant attitude of Kitchloo, the people were prevented from reading the Excelsior newspaper today in some areas.
In today’s issue, Excelsior had carried news of the High Court staying transfer of Director Industries Dr Abdul Rashid, who had been transferred at the behest of Kitchloo, who also holds independent charge of Industries and Commerce, for not following his illegal diktats.
Meanwhile, office of Kitchloo has rebutted a news item public in sections of media in which Dr Rashid had leveled serious allegations against Kitchloo and his PRO in a land allotment case to prospective entrepreneurs.
Describing the allegations as “figment of Dr Rashid’s imagination”, the Minister’s spokesman said the officer is hiding behind his own failures in disseminating duties at such a high office as that of Director Industries and Commerce, Jammu. He condemned the action of Dr Rashid and charged him with trying to drag the Minister’s name in routine Government business.
