JAMMU, Apr 17: Geology Department crushed History Department by 5 wickets and advanced to the semifinal stage of the cricket event, being organised during the ongoing Inter-Department Tournament (Men) by Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu at Varsity ground, here today.
Electing to bat first after winning the toss, History Department scored 125 runs in stipulated 20 overs by losing 8 wickets. Imshan played well, chipped in some crispy shots in his 42 runs contribution including four boundaries, while Shahnawaz and Waqar also contributed 17 and 11 runs respectively.
For Geology Department side, Rahul Singh and Jaipal Singh took 2 wickets each, while Vinod and Arjun claimed one wicket apiece.
In the second inning, Geology Department chased the target in 18.1 overs for the loss of 5 wickets. Ajay chipped n some crispy shots in his 37 runs contribution with the help of six balls towards the fence, while Neeraj and Abhishek also made 24 and 23 runs respectively.
For History Department side, Prince was the pick of the bowler with 2 wickets, while Majid, Bilal and Waqar took one wicket each.
The match was officiated by Suresh Singh and Pankaj Sasan, whle Manu Khajuria maintained the scorecard.
The tournament is being organised under the supervision of Prof Dhian Singh Bhau, Director, Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu.
