Sir,
The generation gap is the topic that is often talked and it is said that the children these days donot heed the advice of their parents and grandparents and term their ideas as outdated and obsolete. The youth too oppose the restrictions on them and believe that the times have changed and so has life. There is no doubt that as a result of breakthroughs in science and gloablisation coupled with knowledge explosion life is changing at a fast pace. The reality is that the old people have a lot of wisdom and experience of life and the youth have energy, vitality and new ideas. They are ambitious, creative, restless and enthusiastic. It is also argued that they are disciplined, disrespectful, argumentative and depend more on their friends for advice than on their parents and elders. The older have reservations on giving unfettered freedom to the youth as doing so may lead them astray. The old people are blamed for their stagnant ideas.
So they are complementary and the older generation should guide and inspire the young and the young ought to be involved in decision making and encouraged to face challenges of new life. They ought to be given responsibility and guided to deal with new situations. The people who had new ideas have contributed a lot by inventing new inventions making our life comfortable and enjoyable. They discovered medicines which have improved the life span of human beings and animals. Their contribution in the fields of literature, philosophy, science etc can not be underestimated. They should give support and guidance to the young and understand their feeelings and ideas. The old need to communicate their intentions and guidance with the young to bridge the generation gap. Even at the workplace, generation gap poses a big problem in running the office or organization. Therefore, the need of the hour is to bridge this gap by organising workshops for the senior and junior employees to enable them to have a free and frank interaction to understand and accommodate eachother’s views in order to run the organisation efficiently.
Yours etc…
