Gen Rawat cuts short visit

JAMMU, Jan 6: Army chief Gen Bipin Rawat had to cut short his three-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir this morning in view of bad weather conditions in Kashmir and Ladakh, where he had to visit today and tomorrow.
Gen Rawat flew back to New Delhi this morning after visiting some forward areas along the Line of Control (LoC) in Akhnoor sector. He had first hand information of the situation prevailing along LoC from the Army Commanders. He also inter-acted with the jawans.
He was scheduled to visit 15 Corps Headquarters in Srinagar and forward areas in Kupwara and Anantnag sectors in the Kashmir valley and Siachen Glacier, the highest battlefield in the world in Ladakh, located at the height of 18,500 feet from the sea level.
Gen Rawat had yesterday visited Northern Command Headquarters at Udhampur, 16 Corps Headquarters at Nagrota and forward areas along the LoC in Rajouri sector and reviewed security situation in Jammu and Kashmir and operational preparedness of the troops.
