JAMMU, Oct 19: Taking serious exception to Hurriyat hardliner leader, Syed Ali Shah Geelani’s statement threatening strike on widening of track to holy cave of Swami Amarnath, Vishaw Hindu Parishad (VHP) today asked him to refrain from interfering in the religious affairs of Hindus.
Geelani has no locus standi in interfering in religious affairs of Hindus and he should shut his mouth on the issue of Swami Amarnath pilgrimage, VHP State president, Dr Rama Kant Dubey told reporters here today.
Lambasting Geelani Dr Dubey asked the Government to restrain him from making the inflammatory statements which can spark communal tension and lead to law and order problem in the State. “It appears that the Hurriyat hardliner has been given the authority to act as a civil administrator by Union and State Governments who is dictating terms to them as well”, he added.
Dr Dubey, who termed Geelani as an agent of ISI and other agencies said it is a habit with him to prescribe specific dress code for the women and gives the bandh call to paralyze the normal life in Kashmir. This can’t be tolerated any more by the peace loving and nationalist people of the State, he added.
He also criticized the State Government of granting VVIP status to Geelani and providing security to him. “Geelani is a traitor and he should be dealt in the same way,” said Dr Dubey who also demanded that his entire security be withdrawn and in case the Hurriyat hardliner continues to make noise he should be repatriated to Pakistan as the entire Geelani clan is not State subject.
He said the Apex Court of the country has given directives for construction of a pacca road to holy cave of Amarnath and Geelani has no right to create hurdles in the same.
Dr Dubey made an appeal to intellectuals and intelligentsia in Kashmir not to give any importance to separatists who are the worst enemies of the people of Valley and who did a lot of damage to them during the last 23 years of turmoil.
Hemraj Khajuria, senior vice president VHP, Dr V K Gupta its city president and Dr S L Gupta State general secretary were among others present in the press conference.
Meanwhile VHP leaders at Rajouri Satpal and Karan Thakur have also criticized the statement of Geelani and demanded his immediate arrest.
