JAMMU, July 31: An emergency executive body meeting of Graduate Engineers Association (GEASSOC) was held here today to resent the alleged unjustified action of the Government against the Chief Engineer Jal Shakti Deptt.
Representatives of Electrical and Mechanical Associations also joined the meeting and expressed their strong resentment against the recent action of Govt in which Er Manish Bhat, Chief Engineer PHE Jammu was made the soft and single target for not meeting the targets of JJM in Jammu thereby demoralizing thousands of in- service engineers who are already overstressed and overburdened due to shortage of staff in Jal Shakti Deptt.
The meet pointed out even several posts of Chief Engineers in the Cadre as well as Ex-Cadre are also lying vacant since long but instead of looking into the real problems behind the failure of Jal Jeevan Mission, one sided action was taken by the Govt. “Jal Jeevan Mission requires consultancy firms in J&K to implement the schemes on a Mission mode and capacity building of Engineers is direly needed in this regard,” observed the members and emphasized for immediate engagement of the PMC/ Consultancy Services for implementation of JJM.
They also demanded an enquiry for not engaging PMC/Consultancy Services for this mega and prestigious project of Govt of India. Associations wondered that when even for small project of Rs 10 crore, consultancy services are hired by the Govt, then why not the same was done in the case of JJM?
The meet unanimously decided on Tuesday all the Engineers will bear black badges as a mark of protest at their work place and next course of action will be decided in the meeting of State Joint Action Committee of Engineers (amalgam of Graduate Engineers Associations Civil, Mechanical, Electrical) on coming Wednesday.
The Association also appealed Lt Governor Manoj Sinha to intervene in the matter of suspension of Er Manesh Bhat (Chief Engineer PHE Jammu), Er Harjit Singh Sudan ( Xen PHE Division Doda) and Er Tarun Arora ( Xen Mech GWD, Jammu) and issued necessary instructions to reinstate them.
The meeting was attended by Er Mujib Tak (State Chief Patron GEASSOC), Er Gopal Sharma (President GEASSOC), Anil Thapa, Ferdous Ahad Bhat, Sachin Tickoo, Hidyat ullah, . Zulfiqar Malik, Rajinder Sharma, Rahat Gupta, Neeraj Sharma, Kulbhushan Bhau, Brahamjyoti, Rajan Mengi, Sanjay Gupta, Arafat Masud and others.
