BARAMULLA, Dec 17: Senior PDP leader, Mohd Dilawar Mir and the MLA Rafiabad , Yawar Mir have asked the party workers especially youth to gear up for upcoming Panchayat and Urban Local Bodies elections in the State to ensure decentralization of power at gross roots level.
He said the proposed elections would enable active participation of youth in policy making and plan formulation at ground level.
Addressing one day party workers convention at Dak Bunglow Baramulla , the duo said that by announcing proposed local Bodies elections in the State, the Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed has opened a window of opportunity for the youth to get themselves involved in the decision making process about various social welfare and poverty eleviation programmes adding that the youth in particular should take part in these elections in a big way.
They said that the party president, Mehbooba Mufti has already directed the party cadres to be ready for the ensuing ULBs elections adding that strengthening of these basic units of democracy was essential for empowerment of youth and decentralization of power.
Dilawar Mir asked the workers to thwart the nefarious designs of anti party and defeated politicians who have launched a malicious campaign against the PDP leadership.
Yawar Dilawar sought people’s whole hearted cooperation in implementing various developmental initiatives in the Rafiabad constituency adding that the party workers should work as watch dogs in their respective areas to ensure judicious use of funds and standard quality of building material. He said transparency and accountability in execution of various development and welfare programmes should be the hallmark of Rafiabad constituency.
He emphasized that there should be no compromise on quality of work at any cost.
