GCW Gandhi Nagar organizes Poster Making Competition on Biodiversity

Jammu, Aug 31:  The Department of Botany under the aegis of Science Club of Govt College for Gandhi Nagar organized Poster Making Competition on the theme “Environment Changes – A threat to Biodiversity” here today.
About two dozen students participated in this intra-college competition. Tanisha of B.Sc 1st Semester won the first prize whereas Kuljit Kour and Rakshanda Sharma of same Semester bagged 2nd and third prize respectively.  Palvi Gujral of B.Sc III Semester and Stuti Sharma of B.Sc I Semester received the consolation prizes.    Prof. Sudha Sehgal,  Prof. Indu Khajuria, Prof. Kamlesh Slathia, Prof. Meru Abrol and Prof. Neelam Thapa served as the judges of this poster making  competition.
Principal of College, Dr. Kiran Bakshi, who was chief guest on the occasion, said that climate change is the major concern before humankind and it becomes pertinent for every member of society to work together to protect environment for ensuring his own survival, the future generations and variety of life therein.
Earlier, Prof. Suchitra Saproo, Convener of Science Club, threw light on the programme in his introductory note.
Prof. Suman Sharma, Head Department of Botany presented the  vote of thanks. Prominent among the others present on the occasion were Prof. Harmeet Kour, Prof. Hardial Singh, Prof. Indiver Chaneyal, Dr. Rajinder Sharma, Prof. Mala Basim, Prof. Harjeet Kour, Dr. Rozy Bamba and Prof. Tahira Firdous.
