GCoE organizes e-counseling program

JAMMU, Jan 11: Government College of Education, Jammu in collaboration with District Employment & Counseling Centre, Jammu and Career Counseling & Placement Cell Higher Education Department organized an e-counseling program.
The program was organized to give career counseling to the students to make them aware about the job opportunities that the students can grab after completing their professional programmes of B.Ed & M.Ed and the subsidies provided by the Government.
The resource person for the event Dushyant Singh, Career Counseling Officer DECC, Jammu enlightened the students with his enriching lecture on the career, jobs and placement activities. He stated that most of the students in the UT are unemployed because all of them want to get a Government job which is impossible because of the limited vacancies.
Shivali Choudhary, Employment Officer, DECC, another resource person for the event, deliberated on the “significance of e-learning portal SWAYAM”. The relevance of such online portals has increased especially in the times of COVID pandemic, she added.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr.Kulwinder Kour, Principal GCoE, said that college is always working in the field to make the students aware about the job opportunities and the placement cell of the college is trying to do placements of the students. She
Prof Lakhwinder Singh & Dr Shubhra Jamwal were the coordinators of the event. Dr Manisha Koul, Deputy Director, DECC, Jammu was the chief patron of the event. More than 100 students were connected in the online event. The program was ably conducted by Dr Shubhra Jamwal, Coordinator, Placement Cell, GCoE. The student volunteers in the event were Ravinder Kumar, Priya Chivalry Singh, Meenakshi Manhas & Ajay Bhau. Prof. Shapia Shameem was also present in the event.
