GCOE holds valedictory function of 7-days long activities

JAMMU, Sept 16: The 7-days long activities organized by the NSS Unit of the Government College of Education Jammu under the patronage of Prof Aketa Gupta, Principal of the College, concluded today with the visit of volunteers and staff members to adopted village Ghaink in Bhalwal block.
Speaking on the occasion, the Principal lauded the efforts of NSS Unit of GCOE Jammu led by Programme Officer Dr Shubhra Jamwal for reaching out the villagers and making them aware about different important aspects particularly the ill-effects of drugs abuse. She appreciated NSS volunteers for conducting various activities like awareness programmes under Nasha Mukt Abhiyan and Poshan Abhiyan, plantation and cleanliness drive besides donating stationery items among the children of the village.
In the function held at village Ghaink, District Development Council (DDC) Chairman of Jammu Bharat Bhushan Bodhi was the chief guest while as BDC Chairman Kuldeep Raj was the guest of honour. The DDC Chairman said that NSS Unit of GCOE played important role in generating awareness among the villagers.
During the seven days activities, the NSS volunteers participated in various competitions held in the college premises and paid visit to Karimchi Temples where they conducted cleanliness drive. Even one day seminoar on drug de-addiction was conducted.
Dr Deep K Bangotra, Prof Seema Kumari, Prof Neeraj also spoke on the occasion and threw light particularly on the ill-effects of drugs abuse. They appreciated the NSS volunteers and their PO for leaving no stone unturned to highlight the issues confronting the society. Ram Lal and Karuna Balotra were also present at the valedictory function.
