PANAJI, July 3: After shaking a leg with Hrithik Roshan in “Koi Mil Gaya”, Mumbai born Bollywood dance artist Gaysil Naubert, who finds her roots to Goa, is getting ready for a big break in upcoming film “Yahan Ameena Bikti Hai”.
The film, directed by Oscar-nominated Kumar Raj, is currently being shot across nine countries. A song number in the film choreographed by Gaysil will be shot in Mumbai.
The choreographer is also performing in the number.
“I will be choreographing and dancing as a main lead in the song. I have my own company dancers, so I am planning to have around 40 dancers, we are scheduled to shoot in the month of September,” Gaysil told PTI.
“I am going to conceptualise, style the entire song, right from lights to sounds to costumes…We have been given the track by T-Series,” she said.
“I am going to use at least six to seven dance styles, one of which is ‘mallkhamb’. I am going to do very graceful and perform acrobatics on the pole,” she said.
The use of traditional ‘mallkhamb’ in item numbers is not new, but Gaysil wants to take it to a new level.
“Mallkhamb was used in one or two films, but they had called international dancers to do the intricate pole work I will getting on the pole during the dance,” she said.
“The filmmaker (Kumar Raj) approached me for a concept-based special number in his film “Yahan Ameena Bikti Hai” and I was kicked about it and immediately agreed to be a part of the peppy number. He wanted someone, who could carry it off well and I was the ultimate choice of his,” she said.
The film is being shot in Hyderabad, France, Gambia, Senegal and Togo.
Trained in western classical, ballet, jazz, tap, salsa, flamenco and contemporary dance, Gaysil made her debut in Bollywood with a dance sequence with Hrithik in “Koi Mil Gaya” in the song titled – ‘It’s Magic’.
She has also featured with Aftab Shivdasani in the film “Muskaan” and many other films, including about 10 Kannada and Tamil movies, either as an item dancer or singer.
Gaysil has drawn praise from Tamil film industry for her performance in “7/G Brindaban Colony” and also in the title track of film “Party”, directed by Ravi Babu. (PTI)
