JAMMU, Jan 22: Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Labour and Employment, Santosh Kumar Gangwar, visited the Regional Office Jammu of Employees Provident Fund Organization and reviewed the progress in implementation of EPF and MP Act 1952 in the Union Territories of J&K and Ladakh.
The Minister was informed that the EPF and Miscellaneous Provisions Act 1952 has been made applicable to all establishments with 20 or more employees in the UTs of J&K and Ladakh with effect from November 1, 2019. As on date 1740 establishments have been brought under the purview of the Act covering nearly one lakh employees and the organization hopes to cover 2000 establishments by January 31, 2020.
The Minister was also apprised that the EPFO Regional Office Jammu and Regional Office Kashmir have been made fully operational while the Regional Office Ladakh is being made operation in April-May 2020. Currently, employees of Ladakh are facilitated online and over telephones from Regional Office Jammu and Regional Office Kashmir.
The assets and liabilities of JK EPF, including the accumulations of PF to the credits of each and every member, shall be transferred to EPFO partly by February 28, 2020 and totally by May 31, 2020, informed the Inforcement Officer Rohan Azad who added that the EPFO was committed to provide transparent social security service to the people of Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh.
