Ganga reviews progress of industrial sector in Leh

LEH, Aug 25: Minister for Industries and Commerce, Chander Parkash Ganga today reviewed the functioning of industrial units and allied Government departments in Leh district.
Minister for Cooperative, Chering Dorjey, officers and entrepreneurs of small industrial units were also present in the meeting.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that Coalition Government is giving special attention to industrial sector and is in the process of bringing a new industrial policy very shortly. He said all issues with respect to improving the facilities for setting up of industry in Leh will be addressed on priority.
Minister for Cooperative, Chering Dorjey said that due to inadequate supply of electricity, establishment of industrial units suffered in Leh. He said now the situation has vastly improved and it is expected that the industrial units will grow more.
Earlier, the Industries and Commerce Minister along with the concerned officers visited industrial Estate  Phyang, Oxygen Plant at Phyang, Kangri Floor Mill at Chushot and office of Manager SICOP at Leh. Later, the Minister held a meeting with Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev here and urged him to establish Patanjali industry in the State.
Mr Ganga said that establishment of industry will benefit the people of the State as besides providing the Ayurvedic medicines and food items to them, it can boost the economy of the people also as they can produce the raw material and sell it to the industry.
Baba Ram Dev while accepting the suggestion said the decision can boost the economy of local farmers as the State due to its climatic conditions has a lot of potential in producing the raw material for the industry.
Baba Ramdev said that he is earnestly looking for the establishment of industry and Government should take early decision regarding allotment of land for the same. He said this decision will also provide employment to a large number of youth in the State.
Meanwhile, CEC, LAHDC, Leh Rigzin Spalbar today held a brief meeting with the Minister for Industries and discussed the issues related to industries in the district.
During the meeting, CEC stressed on the need to provide power, water, road and fencing facilities for setting up of industries on the lands already allotted to selected candidates which is lying waste in absence of these facilities.
Emphasising on job creation and sustainable development in the region, Spalbar pointed out the need to engage youths in entrepreneurship considering the availability of rich resources and the need to do value addition of the existing raw products. For this, CEC urged the Minister to increase incentive, interest subsidy and to set a time frame for the banks to pay loan which is one of the biggest hurdle for the youths to start with their job.
