SAMBA: Minister for Industries and Commerce Chander Parkash Ganga today chaired a meeting to review the arrangements for three day Baba Sidh Goria Mela held every year at Swankha Temple shrine.
The Baba Sidh Goria Mela is scheduled to start from July 2 and is expected to witness huge rush of devotees.
District Development Commissioner Samba, Sheetal Nanda, Director Tourism Department Smita Sethi, ADDC Vivek Sharma, ADC Tilak Raj Shastri, Executive Engineers of PWD, RDD, PHE, BDOs, Tehsildars, CMO, senior officers of police and district administration besides prominent citizens attended the meeting.
The meeting discussed various matters including, Medicare facilities, smooth traffic, supply of power and drinking water, sanitation, and cleanliness around the temple shrine.
The Minister directed departments to ensure uninterrupted power supply, upgradation of roads and provision for adequate parking facility for the pilgrims. The Minister also directed to ensure barricading at the Mela sites so as to avoid inconvenience to pilgrims.
The Minister further directed the key departments to install stalls at the venue to highlight and educate people about the state and central schemes and programmes.
The Minister asked the Police to regulate smooth flow of traffic during Mela and check overloading and overcharging.
Earlier, DDC Samba Sheetal Nanda briefed that a control room will be setup in the premises of Baba Sidh Goria where officer of PWD, PHE , PDD and Traffic Departments will be present round the clock to facilitate the pilgrims.
