Gandhi’s philosophy is timeless, says Azad

JAMMU: Former Union Minister and Gandhi Global Family National President Ghulam Nabi Azad today termed the philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi as timeless.
“Gandhi’s philosophy is timeless and his ideology on world peace and social harmony is as relevant today as it was over decades ago,” Mr Azad said while paying tributes to Mahatma Gandhi on his death anniversary.
He called upon the institutions of civil society and all citizens to follow Gandhi’s principles of truth, non-violence and the ideals for which the Mahatma struggled and sacrificed his life.
Mr Azad was speaking at a function organised on the martyrdom of Mahatma Gandhi by Gandhi Global Family at Dewan-e-Aam Mubarak Mandi here.
Divisional Commissioner Jammu Shatmanu also deliberated upon the relevance of Gandhian thought for maintaining peace, truth and non-violence and lauded the efforts of the Gandhi Global Family in disseminating the teachings of Gandhi which would help in progressive and productive development of the nation.
He stressed for carrying forward the message of universal brotherhood and peace.
A free diabetes screening camp was also organised on the occasion where large number of people was examined by a team of specialised doctors from the Health Department.
A two-minute silence was also observed to pay homage to Father of the Nation and the students also took a pledge for communal harmony and strengthening the spirit of tolerance, compassion and love for all humans. (Agencies)
