Ganderbal village facing acute power, water crisis

JAMMU, Jan 29: A delegation of JK People’s Revolutionary Society discussed the problems faced by the people of Ganderbal due to shortages of power with Super Intending Engineer, Circle Ganderbal today.
The delegation which was led by the chairman of the Society Mir Ghulam Rasool Batwinee urged the authorities for early action otherwise people will come on roads and protest against the PDD authorities.
Mir Gh Rasool Batwinee, who is also a Trade Union leader said that there is no manpower and other facilities available in the Department. The thousands of need based workers and casual laborers are working in the Department from the last 16 years on Receiving Stations, Grid Stations, LT &.HT lines, power houses and other stuff works. They are with out wages and no skilled and regular required staff is available with the Department from the last 20 years.
He said according to the present infrastructure of PDD the earlier Governments deceived the people and looted public exchequer only. There is no any development in the PDD. The work on New Ganderbal Power Project has not been started for last 20 years, he added. He urged and appealed to Government to look into the matter and resolve the grievances of the society without further delay. People are suffering during these hard and chilly days badly. He said the condition of other departments is also worst. He said alone Batwinee area is facing complete blackout for last one month due to break down of transformer and it is unfortunate that the authorities have failed to restore the same till date which has also hampered the water supply in the area.
