JAMMU, May 21:  Advisor to the Governor Khurshid Ahmed Ganai today visited Mahamaya Park to inspect the status of the prestigious Bahu–Mahamaya–Peerkho cable car project.
The Advisor also conducted detailed inspection of technical installations as well as allied infrastructure being constructed at Mahamaya for the attraction of tourists to as part of the cable car project.
Reviewing the progress made on final checks before its commissioning, the Advisor asked engineers to ensure that the standard operating procedures are adhered as per international norms.
Emphasizing on adherence to safety specifications and timely completion of the project, Ganai directed the concerned departments to work in synergy and ensure regular monitoring of the ongoing works.
The Advisor was informed that the technical inspections are being undertaken by consultant engineers from Turkey and finishing touches are being given at terminal stations.
Meanwhile, the Advisor inspected the progress on allied recreational infrastructure being developed at Mahamaya Park including amphitheatre, fun zones, food courts, viewing decks, tiled path etc. He called to their early completion to provide tourists, visitors an inclusive experience.
He stressed on expediting remaining works in Mahamaya Park take up as part of the Bahu–Mahamaya–Peerkho cable car project to project the  place as a prime religious and recreational destination for the tourists and pilgrims alike.
The Advisor was accompanied by officers of Cable Car Project Corporation, Safety Engineers who gave him detailed account on various technical aspects and safety measures being used to ensure safety of the passengers.
Meanwhile, Ganai met several public delegations and individuals who apprised him about their issues and demands.
Delegations of State Government employees of various departments also met with the Advisor, to raise their job-related issues.
The Advisor gave a patient hearing to the demands and assured due consideration in a phased manner.
Later, the Advisor Ganai chaired a meeting to review the functioning of the departments under his charge.
Director Floriculture Babila Rakwal,  Director FCS&CA, Jatinder Singh, Director School Education, Anuradha Gupta, Joint Director Tourism Showkat Mehmood, Joint Director Technical Education besides senior officers of Higher Education, Labour and Employment, Cooperative and  Auqaf departments were present in the meeting.
Reviewing their performance, the Advisor urged all the departments to adopt pro-active approach for execution of their duties. He asked the Labour Department to strictly enforce labour laws on the ground and take up initiatives for welfare of labourers.
With regard to Floriculture Department, Ganai asked for making concerted efforts to expedite the remaining works of recreational park at Bhour Camp so that it is opened for public use. He also directed for improving infrastructure at the Bagh-e-Bahu park.
He directed Technical Education Department to expedite construction work on ITIs and polytechnic colleges in various districts.
Taking stock of the functioning of School Education Department, the Advisor directed for detachment of teachers for rationalization of staff across the division, especially in far off areas.
While reviewing the performance of FCS&CA Department, Advisor was informed that food grains for the month of May have already been distributed to the consumers.
