Gadkari approves Rs 779.38 cr for Ladakh road

JAMMU, Apr 1: Union Minister for Roads and National Highways Nitin Gadkari today approved Rs 779.38 crore for widening and upgradation of Kargil-Zanskar road in the Union Territory of Ladakh on EPC mode. He approved total roads and highway projects worth Rs 6176 crore across the country.
Gadkari gave this information in a series of tweets.
“For Ladakh—Work of widening and upgradation to two-lane with paved shoulder of National Highway 301 Kargil-Zanskar road on EPC mode in the Union Territory of Ladakh has been approved with a budget of Rs 381.01 crore,” Gadkari said in a tweet.
The project has been approved in Package-III.
Another work on same road worth Rs 398.37 crore has been approved under Package-VIII.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Lok Sabha member from Ladakh Jamyang Tsering Namgyal has thanked Nitin Gadkari for approval of Rs 779.38 crore for Kargil-Zanskar road.
“Thankful to Sh Nitin Gadkari Ji for the approval of Rs 779.38 crore for widening/up gradation to two lane with paved shoulder of National Highway 301 Kargil-Zanskar road on EPC mode (Package-III and Package-VIII). Gratitude to Sh Narendra Modi Ji (Prime Minister) and Shri Amit Shah Ji (Home Minister) for their constant care for Ladakh,” Namgyal said in a tweet.
Few days back, Gadkari had approved around Rs 2500 crore worth roads and highway projects for Jammu and Kashmir.
PTI adds from New Delhi: The Government today approved highway projects worth more than Rs 6,176 crore.
These projects pertain to seven States and Union Territories, including Maharashtra and Assam.
“Ministry of Road Transport & Highways has accorded approval to upgradation, rehabilitation and reconstruction of a number of projects, across the country,” it said in a statement.
These include Rs 2,801.33 crore-worth projects in Maharashtra and RS 1,259 crore-worth projects in Assam.
According to the Ministry, projects worth Rs 810 crore projects have been approved for Andhra Pradesh.
