Very often, flawed planning results into the type of what became the fate of a nearly complete two storied building purported to house a hospital, has neither become one nor is otherwise the building put to some utility. The result is the building suffering in areas of maintenance and upkeep and likely to get dilapidated. It is all about a hospital building at Gadigarh on the outskirts of Jammu near Jammu Airport.
Excepting a small signage at the building reading ‘Department of Health and Family Welfare, Lower Gadigarh’ there is no trace of anything like a hospital. It is also not possible to build hospitals in every locality but at least in the nearby existing ones, if adequate medical facilities both OPD and indoor are provided to the satisfaction of the people, that would be better and wise planning rather than just building structures and later abandoning the idea of housing health centres or hospitals in them. This unutilised building should immediately be put to some use or rightaway sold away otherwise it could turn into a den of drug addicts and anti social elements.
