Interacting held with Jammu stakeholders

Srinagar, May 12: The Secretary Tourism Department, Syed Abid Rashid Shah, today said that the visiting G-20 delegates from various countries will play a crucial role as ambassadors in promoting Jammu and Kashmir as a global tourist destination.
During the inauguration of a hot air balloon and trekking expedition at Zabarwan Park, Syed Abid Rashid Shah spoke to reporters and emphasized the significant opportunity that the G-20 presents to showcase Jammu and Kashmir as a leading global tourist destination, “we anticipate that the delegates visiting J&K will assume the role of ambassadors, actively promoting the Union Territory as a remarkable global tourist destination,” he said.
The secretary further highlighted the positive impact of the event on the tourism industry and expressed his optimism about promoting Jammu and Kashmir globally. “The event will provide us with an excellent opportunity to promote and showcase J&K on a global level in a positive manner. the introduction of the hot air balloon at Zabarwan Park adds an exciting attraction for tourists visiting Srinagar,” he said.
Furthermore, he emphasized the importance of events like these in attracting visitors and promoting tourism. “All the events organized by the tourism department are integral to the G-20 event, promising a significant positive impact on the tourism industry. The enthusiastic participation of thousands, including schoolchildren and youth, in today’s event further exemplifies a heartening gesture,” he said.
He also emphasized the broader benefits of such events for all stakeholders and allied industries. “Today, a good number of youth participated in the event, which vindicates public participation and the warmth of people towards the G20 event. We are eagerly waiting for the delegates to experience the love and hospitality for which Kashmir is known,” he said.
Recognizing the influence of tourism on every citizen of Jammu and Kashmir, Secretary Syed Abid Rashid Shah expressed his hopes that the G20 delegates would become ambassadors of Jammu and Kashmir worldwide, promoting the Union Territory as a global tourist destination. “Tourism influences directly or indirectly every citizen of J&K. It will be a great opportunity for us to showcase J&K to the whole world. I hope the delegates will be the ambassadors of J&K across the world to promote the UT as a global tourist destination,” he said.
Meanwhile, Secretary Tourism held an interactive meeting with Tourism Stakeholders of Jammu in order to review the current scenario in the sector and chalkout the strategy for upcoming publicity/promotional and developmental campaign for this year.
The representatives of service providers congratulated the Tourism Department for its efforts in taking the sector to new heights and organising events at Mubarak Mandi, Kishtwar, Bhaderwah etc. which were well appreciated by one and all. They also put forth their suggestions and even sought redressal of some of their difficulties which they face on daily basis.
He directed the officers to come up with an early solution in this regard so that the department and the stakeholders can effectively help to promote and develop tourism. He directed the officers to act as facilitators so that the issues of stakeholders are genuinely addressed.
Director, Tourism, Jammu, Vivekanand Rai, Special Secretary Tourism Department, Amarjeet Singh, Additional Secretary, Tourism Department, Sachin Dev Singh, Joint Director Tourism, Sunaina Sharma,Deputy Director Tourism, Jammu, Dr. Umesh Shan, Deputy Director Tourism, Publicity and Adventure, Jammu, Abdul Jabbar, Deputy Director Tourism M&W Sh.Amit Sharma and other officers of the Department; representatives of hoteliers, travel agents were also present in the meeting.
